My baby Vivienne just turned six months old, which means I’ve got a half year’s worth of experience shopping for baby clothing. My daughter has onesies from just about every brand you can think of—Hanna Andersson, Old Navy, Carter’s, Amazon, Tea Collective—but one stands out among them all: Burt’s Bees Baby.
That’s right—Burt’s Bees, known for its incredible lip balm, has an equally amazing collection of baby essentials. I have purchased about a dozen onesies from Burt’s Bees Baby, as well as a slew of sheets and towels. In just six short months, I’ve become a Burt’s Bees Baby evangelist—here’s why.
How I tested Burt’s Bees Baby
The first Burt’s Bees Baby onesie I received was from a family friend—she sent us an adorable sleep and play onesie with an elephant and mouse. It was extremely soft, so once it was time to order more onesies (which is approximately every other week when you have a baby), I loaded up.
Over the past six months, I’ve ordered an array of products from both the Burt’s Bees website and the Burt’s Bees Baby Amazon store, including onesies, crib sheets, towels, washcloths, changing pad covers, and sleep sacks. Each has been washed and dried many times, coated with baby vomit, sent to daycare and back home, shoved in a baby’s mouth, and packed in a diaper bag.
What I love about Burt’s Bees Baby
The material is extremely cozy

This colorful onesie from Burt’s Bees Baby is as bright as my baby’s nursery.
Burt’s Bees Baby prides itself on its organic cotton materials—as they should. Every onesie I’ve purchased has been incredibly soft, which is a very important consideration when I’m dressing the world’s most precious baby. The feet feature raised cartoon bees that help with grip, though we haven’t tested that yet since Vivienne isn’t walking.
There’s a single zipper that runs from the neckline down to the left foot. The top zipper is couched in a small button flap that keeps the zipper from poking into her neck. In the six months that she’s been wearing Burt’s Bees onesies, she’s never had a red mark from the zipper (unlike other onesies), so the flap is as effective as it is comfy.
The patterns are adorable

The patterns on Burt’s Bees Baby onesies are so much fun.
I am an absolute sucker for gorgeous patterns, and in this regard, Burt’s Bees Baby excels. The patterns are really cute, whether you’re shopping for baby girls or baby boys. Vivienne owns onesies from both collections—the difference between the girls’ onesies and boys’ onesies are subtle, usually just color-based (the boys’ onesies have more blues and greens while the girls’ onesies have more pinks and purples).
Some of my favorite designs so far include this really sweet deer onesie, this adorable sleepy time romper, this happy earth jumper, and this party sloth onesie. The designs are constantly changing, which honestly just means I keep buying new ones. They’ve got especially fun holiday-themed onesies that pop in stock around events. This is particularly helpful because Vivienne is in daycare, which means we’ve got lots of themed days she needs to be dressed up for.
The onesies hold up well
I’ve bought several onesies that come out of the box with loose strings. They get washed and things fall apart even further. When you’re only using onesies for a few months at a time, you want them to hold up for that short period—and Burt’s Bees hasn’t let me down yet. These onesies have seen quite a bit: blowouts, vomit, sweat, floor time, and travel. Through it all, I’ve never had to throw one out. After a regular wash cycle, they’re as good as new and just as soft as they were on day one.
The site is always running sales
I typically shop Burt’s Bees Baby on Amazon because I get that sweet two-day shipping, but the site itself frequently runs sales that will get me shopping. After Christmas, I got a bunch of crib sheets for just $3—three dollars!! The site also has more inventory than what you’ll find on Amazon, so if you want a few more patterns or different cuts of clothing, it’s a good call to check out the brand’s actual website.
What I don’t love about Burt’s Bees Baby
The onesies run large

Here’s the size difference between Carter’s (left), Burt’s Bees Baby (center), and Old Navy (right) for a 6-9 month onesie.
Vivienne is wearing size 6-9 months in most onesies, but with Burt’s Bees Baby, she’s only recently grown out of the 0–3-month size. The Burt’s Bees Baby onesies are on the larger side, so I’d recommend shopping down a size that you normally shop for (unless you’ve got a larger baby, or you want a onesie your baby will grow into).
The crib sheets run small
While the onesies are on the larger side, the crib sheets run a big snug—like “lift the mattress out of the crib and wrangle the sheet on with your knees” snug. They’re soft—made from that same cozy organic cotton as the brand’s onesies—but you’re gonna be putting in a little elbow grease to get them into the crib.
The onesies don’t have a double zipper
Double-zipped onesies are invaluable time savers. These jumpers feature two zippers so when you change a diaper, you can zip up from the bottom without having to un-zip the entire onesie. Burt’s Bees onesies only feature that top-down zipper. It’s not the end of the world—and the onesies are still entirely functional without a double zipper—but it would be a nice addition to the brand’s future onesies.
Should you shop Burt’s Bees Baby?
Absolutely

Burt’s Bees Onesies absolutely belong in your baby’s wardrobe.
Burt’s Bees Baby onesies are my favorite, hands down. They’re soft, comfy, long-lasting, and gorgeous. I’d recommend them to any parents looking for high-quality onesies for their babies, whether they need pajamas, daycare outfits, or everyday jumpers for their babies. I never have to worry that one of these onesies will get ruined after getting covered in any number of bodily functions—and we frequently get compliments about the fun designs.
